Buyers Guide

'Buyer Guide' below essentially outlines how we do business. As a reputable dealer Jack Shaw & Co have a code of conduct the purpose of which is to reassure our customers and give them confidence in their dealings with our Company. You will be provided with the following information if required :
- a written invoice stating our trading name, address and telephone number.
- date of sale.
- a brief description of the item(s) – including the place of origin [if known], date, maker and any other information that can support the provenance if available.
- any known restoration or alteration to the item since original manufacture.
- the price paid.
- condition reports can be provided on request.

Payment Options

We accept payment by BACS (bank transfer), through PayPal or cheque.  BACS is a direct transfer of funds from the customers bank account to Jack Shaw & Co account.  PayPal is a safe and quick way of making purchases online.  You can sign up to PayPal free of charge via the following link:  If you choose to pay by cheque please contact us first.

Postage & Shipping

All items will be dispatched within 2 working days of placing an order using Royal Mail Special Delivery and UPS for items that are unsuitable for Royal Mail to handle. Postage and Packaging are provided to our customers free of charge. Items are packed with great care; however, in the unlikely event that an item is damaged during transit please contact us within 2 hours of receipt of the parcel. All goods are insured during transit and are therefore covered until they are received by the customer. A receipt with full details of your purchase will be included in your parcel which clients may wish to use for insurance purposes.

Please note: you should notify us immediately of damaged goods.


Clients have 10 days in which to return goods; please contact us as soon as you decide to return the item. This does not affect your statutory rights. All items should be returned to the following address in the same condition in which they were dispatched and are the resposibility of the customer until they have been recieved by Jack Shaw & Co :

Jack Shaw & Co is a member of LAPADA, the Association for Antique and Fine Art Dealers. LAPADA has over 600 members across the UK, which are obliged to follow a strict code of practice designed to reassure customers of the quality and integrity of its members.
